The Good
We were off to a tasty start with the Cauliflower Pancake. Stacked high and standing tall, the stack looked mighty impressive. The pancakes themselves were absolutely delicious, the lightly fried and crispy outer was a beautiful golden brown, with a soft and comforting inner made with mashed cauliflower and potato. This was accompanied by plenty of crisp bacon, smashed avocado salsa and topped with two perfectly poached eggs. This flavoursome stack certainly impressed in more ways than one.
We also enjoyed the Chilli Scrambled. The generous helping of creamy and fluffy scrambled eggs were simply delightful. Offering plenty of heat and a good about of spice, the flavours were bold and unapologetic. The flavours were further enhanced with dukkah spices and topped with sliced avocado, all served on a slice of toasted pumpkin seed toast. Delicious.
Our meal concluded on a sweet note with the Knefe French Toast. Each slice of French toast was coated with cornflakes, offering up a perfect crunch that perfectly juxtaposed the soft, pillowy inner. The French toast was soaked in a heavenly sweet syrup that was creamy like custard, which soaked up the slowly melting scoop of ice cream. This unique take on french toast by Aunt Billie’s was thoroughly enjoyed and definitely satisfied our sweet tooth.
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Offering a distinctly Middle-Eastern twist to their dishes, we found everything we sampled perfectly executed and we’ll thought out.
With complimentary flavours and contrasting textures, all at a reasonable price point, Aunt Billie’s is a must visit when in Melbourne’s East.
