- Pork Katsu Sando
- Peanut Butter Latte
The Good
The Peanut Butter Latte was a standout drink that wasn’t overly sweet. It had a robust peanut butter flavour and the addition of Biscoff crumbs on top provided a nice texture. A very well-balanced and enjoyable latte.
The Mediocre
Pork Katsu Sando was a bit of a letdown in terms of size and felt quite small for a main dish. While the flavours were okay, it didn’t quite hit the mark for a standout sando. The pork itself was unfortunately a bit tough. More importantly, the katsu crumb was thin, lacked that signature airy, flakey crunch you expect from an authentic Japanese sandwich, making the overall experience unimpressive.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Ilza Cafe offers a creative drink menu that really hits the spot, particularly if you’re a fan of nutty, textured lattes. However, the food side especifically the Pork Katsu Sando fell short of expectations for a Japanese-style cafe. Itโs a decent spot for a catch-up over drinks, but the kitchen needs a bit more consistency with their signature snacks.
