The Good
It was off to a great start with the Reuben Benedict. The beautiful presentation made way for an incredibly delicious meal that was characterised by bold flavours and generous portions. Sitting underneath the perfectly poached eggs was of course the amazing beef brisket, which was slow cooked perfectly to offer up a tender and juicy experience with an appetising beefy flavour. This was well complemented by a pleasant though not overpowering smokey sensation, which went rather well with the rich and creamy hollandaise sauce liberally applied on top. We found the sauerkruat did wonders in cutting through the heavier components, and coupled with plenty of fresh, leafy spinach, this dish definitely provided a satisfying and well-balanced experience.
The Almond Croissant was thoroughly enjoyable. The exceptionally crusty and flakey outer was liberally coated with crunchy and crispy slices of almond and dusted with icing sugar. The pastry underneath was baked to a nice crisp that provided a crumbly and flakey sensation with every bite. Within, the croissant was stuffed with a generous helping of almond paste, with a pleasant sweetness that was well accompanied by the buttery pastry itself.
We also enjoyed the Ricotta Danish. Generously filled within with a silky smooth and creamy ricotta mixture, we found the sweetness forward and pleasant without being overpowering. Surrounding it, we found the dough fragrant and soft, with just the right spongy, airy feedback that made every mouthful an absolute delight.
The Mediocre
The Chicken and Leek Pie was less impressive in comparison. While the pastry in and of itself was flawless, beautifully flakey and just buttery enough, the inner fillings didn’t quite make its mark. We were expecting the chicken and leek combination to be incredibly fragrant and flavourful, however the taste fell short on expectations and weren’t nearly as bold as we hoped for. The tomato relish did help the cause, as did the fresh salad served alongside, however this was undeniably the weakest dish on our visit.

The Verdict
It’s not too often that you come across a cafe that makes its own baked goods from scratch, and we are pleased to report that Zeppelin Bakehouse has definitely nailed the art of being a patisserie.
Not only does this bakery serve up a stunning variety of baked goods, from flakey croissants to house-made sourdoughs, as well as crowd favourites like brownies and banana breads, you also get the option to pick from a mouthwatering, well-executed menu and pretty solid coffees. For those looking to satisfy their breakfast cravings, Zeppelin Bakehouse is a cafe that must not be missed.
