- Chicken Parmigiana
The Good
A pub classic like the Chicken Parmigiana was pretty well done. The chicken itself was tender and juicy, and while it wasn’t overly thick, it was perfectly acceptable. It had a great crunch on the crumb and was generously blanketed in plenty of stretchy cheese. The biggest letdown of the dish was the napoli sauce, which tasted very canned and lacked the rich, fresh flavor you want on a pub parma.
Chips were well cooked with a solid, satisfying crunch on the outside and a soft, fluffy inner. Pet hate –ย some of the chips fell victim to being plated underneath the chicken and ended up a bit soggy.
Salad was fresh and crisp with a light dressing. It served its purpose as a palate cleanser, but it was nothing too special.
The Mediocre
The staff were overall friendly and welcoming, save for one notably sour employee who brought the vibe down a notch.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Itโs an OK feed for a country pub, but ultimately nothing remarkable. It will satisfy the craving if you are passing through Inverleigh, but it isn’t one to go out of your way for.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Maybe.
