The Good
Nothing.
The Mediocre
The Pan-fried Pork Dumplings began promisingly enough, with an attractive golden base that offered a welcome crunch. Unfortunately, the filling was merely acceptable, while the surrounding wrappers were far too thick and doughy. The resulting chewiness overshadowed the fried exterior and made for a rather heavy dumpling. A disappointing balance of textures.
The Bad
The Beef Hor Fun was a real disappointment. Rather than separate, slippery rice noodles carrying a fragrant wok character, we received a clumped and poorly separated mass with none of the smoky depth the dish so badly needs. The addition of broccoli, zucchini and baby corn did little to rescue the meal and felt entirely out of place. A distinctly unconvincing rendition.
The Verdict
Dumpling Table failed to deliver on two relatively straightforward dishes. The pork dumplings were held back by thick wrappers despite their crisp bases, while the beef hor fun lacked both proper noodle preparation and wok character. With so many good dumpling and noodle shops within reach, there is little reason to settle for execution this disappointing. We certainly won’t be rushing back.
