The Good
The Steak Sandwich was an absolute delight and the highlight of our visit. Sandwiched between slices of fresh, lightly toasted focaccia was tender, juicy steak cooked to medium and coated in a golden marinade. Crisp rocket provided a refreshing contrast, while the generous serving of chips offered a beautifully crunchy exterior and fluffy inner. A delight.
We were equally pleased with the Royal Benedict. Generous smoked salmon offered plenty of flavour without excessive salt, pairing beautifully with the rich hollandaise. Tangy pear slices provided a clever contrast, while perfectly poached eggs sat upon a delightfully crisp hash brown base. The balance of ingredients was simply excellent.
The Latte was a very decent accompaniment to our brunch, offering a satisfying coffee experience without any notable shortcomings.
The Chai Latte packed a surprisingly bold punch in flavour, proving a particularly enjoyable alternative to the coffee.
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Pillar of Salt impressed us across both its savoury dishes and drinks, displaying excellent care and balance. The beautifully executed steak sandwich was exceptional, while the Benedict combined rich and fresh elements to excellent effect. Generous portions added to an already satisfying experience. We would most definitely be happy to return.
